Spirit at Work Following on a great seminar with Rob Gray on creative art and spirituality, the second series in our working spirituality comes up on Thursday 18^th from 1pm to 4.30pm. I will be taking the seminar directly addressing the spirituality of work. Topics include:

Work as joy, play and co-creation, fulfilment, vocation.

The shadow at work – work and power; work and addiction; competence, frustration & expectation.

Work, death and resurrection – being adaptive.

The seminary will include opportunities for doing reflection and interaction on current workplace issues for you. Involvement at the Kailo Centre Apart from coming to seminars you may be interested in being part of a missional community at the heart of the Kailo Centre. The missional community will meet together to explore spirituality, learn more together, worship and be involved in promoting Christian spirituality in the community and in Samaritans (our partner organisation). The emerging worship get-togethers are not currently happening but we are currently exploring parish partnerships and I will let you know details as they come to light. From Emerging Worship to  Missional community

In the last few months over a hundred people have been to the Kailo centre to experience Emerging worship and we have had some great feedback on the way this worship has enabled participants to experience God. Most who have attended already belong to a parish and we hope that they will be able to take back some ideas to try in their local setting. For those of us who want to continue building the ministry of the Kailo centre it is appropriate that we mow meet as a missional community on those second Sundays of each month at 5.00pm with the aim of deepening the awareness and practice of spirituality in our community. As the name suggests, missional communities are missional in that they seek to make a difference in the world and community as we realise we are more effective (and have more fun) when we do this together. The format of our hour together will involve learning more about Christian spirituality, discussion and some worship. It is about being effective in enabling ourselves and others we know to have a greater awareness of God’s sacred presence in all of life. As a missional community we will not seek to duplicate what happens in parish Sunday services so some may wish to participate while continuing their regular Sunday morning involvement where they currently are. We look forward to taking the next step of this journey with some of you this Sunday 10^th July at Kailo at 5.00pm.

Creative Expression and Spirituality

Also a reminder  that on Thursday 28th July 1 pm – 4.30pm, We have our first spirituality & work workshop, Creative Expression & Spirituality. The leader is Rob Gray. Rob is a highly regarded art therapy lecturer from Germany and is the founder and director of the Centre for Educational and Clinical Art Therapy. June at the Kailo Centre

Hey everyone!

Our next Emerging worship is Sunday 12^th at 5pm. It is Pentecost so the theme will be Spirit – which is spot on for a spirituality centre!

Following our first ideas café, which proved to be an interesting discussion on the nature of spirit and software, we will be launching into our second one on Sunday 26^th June at 5pm.The topic this time is looking at one way of identifying this spirit in ourselves. This is an opportunity to explore together, over a coffee in the centre, ideas and insights that might help inform our roadmap along the way.The topic is Mind, Spirit and Software and the springboard material is a 15 min clip on Okham’s razor that can be found here. This idea of the mind as software is running hot in our community – on Sunday we play with its extension to spirituality – so come along, share your views and listen to others. Emerging worship is happening again this Sunday evening (May 8^th) at 5.00pm. The theme this week is God: not seen, but recognised. One way of looking at our spiritual journey is travelling into a greater and deeper awareness of God in every aspect of life. So this Sunday we will walk an intriguing path through the Kailo centre that represents our own growing recognition of God and mirrors the path of the disciples on the road to Emmaus.

Also an advanced notice: Our first ideas café is happening on May 22^nd at 5.00pm. This is an opportunity to explore together, over a coffee in the centre, ideas and insights that might help inform our roadmap along the way. Each month will have some stimulus material that will get our thoughts and conversations going. The first is on Mind, Spirit and Software and the springboard material is a 15 min clip on Okham’s razor that can be found here. Listen to it and come ready to share your questions and responses. The idea’s café would be suitable for anyone who likes exploring ideas – no Christian background is assumed, so bring your friends!
